Hello,

Deaths Mar 1863
ACLAND Elizabeth Stoddart Camberwell 1d 349

Spouse is James and it's possible he died in 1847. The name also appears in records as ACKLAND.

I'd like a look up for Elizabeth in 1861 please.

Regards,

Dave

Hello cp,

Thanks for looking.

I don't know when Elizabeth Stoddart MULLINS was born.

London, England, Births and Baptisms, 1813-1906
Name: Eliza Annie Acland
Record Type: Baptism
Date: 14 Jun 1837
Father's Name: James Acland
Mother's Name: Elizabeth Flodderd Acland <--- Stoddart probably
Parish: Holy Trinity, Brompton Road
Borough: Kensington and Chelsea
County: Middlesex

You may not be able to find any of them in 1841 if they were in Paddington but you might if they were in Kensington or some other part of London.

Camberwell is in Surrey.

Eliza married in 1847. Eliza and daughter went to Australia when spouse Samuel died.

RILEY Eliza A 33 Nimroud 1855 Sydney and/or Newcastle and daughter Fiche 839
RILEY Amelia 5 Nimroud 1855 Sydney and/or Newcastle and mother Fiche 839

Hello cp,

It seems the Bishop's Transcripts for Hammersmith 1819 marriage have the names as James ACKLAND and Sarah Stoddard MULLINS. ???

Every other thing I have says her name was Elizabeth.

Regards,

Dave

Hello cp,

Well, I don't know what to believe now. :D

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=multi-tree&id=I2285

Seems James didn't die in 1847 and that he married 3 times. Very curious, lots of children born from the other two marriages BEFORE his first spouse died:

Hello cp,

Thanks.

Now I'm not sure. That census agrees with the tree in that it has the name Headley. But ...

Perhaps we should go back to this:

Deaths Mar 1863
ACLAND Elizabeth Stoddart Camberwell 1d 349

Did she leave a will?

Dave

Hello cp,

OK, thanks for looking.

Well, I guess when you feel like it you can look at the LEWTON / LEAR marriage puzzle in the "An 'odd' ANGEL in Victoria" topic on the Australian board. The mystery aunt turned out to be Mary PEACOCK. !!! Sister of Elizabeth who married brother George LEWTON - hence an aunt of George's daughter. I received the death certificate of that daughter today.

Thanks.

Regards,

Dave

Hello Dave,

I am interested in the subsequent history of Eliza and her daughter, as until now I didn't know they had gone to Australia.

I can also supply you with copious details of Acklands / Aclands. Eliza's mother was in the asylum in Camberwell and it was only after she had died that James married Marianne Day though he wasted no time! The middle 'marriage' never existed, it was purely a co-habitation because his wife was still alive.

I can supply much more but not sure what you want or where to start.

Regards, TomC

Dave,

Thank you. I'll now work on that to see if I can build on it and then get back to you. Meanwhile if you want any previous history of the Acland / Ackland family before Australia just ask.

Regards,
Tom
