The John who married Elizabeth in 1868 should be somewhere in 1871 without spouse and probably without children. Therefore probably a lodger or boarder.

Oh. Children in 1871 must be from John's first marriage or I've got this all wrong.

We have 2x marriages for Elizabeth ARROL but I can find only one birth.

Only one spouse listed on the death of my Elizabeth:

1874 Deaths in the District of Burgh Parishes in the Burgh of Paisley
No. 801 - Elizabeth Pollock Married to John Pollock Baker Journeyman - 1874 November Twentieth 4h. P.M. 69 Causeyside street Low par Paisley - F - 46 years - John Arrol Shawl Weaver (deceased) Ann Arrol M.S. Tytler (deceased) - Gastro Enteritis As Cert. by R. Falconer Surgeon - John Pollock Widower - 1874 November 23 at Paisley Hugh Allison Asst. Registrar

Same address so it is my Elizabeth in 1871 without spouse John.

Why I ask is this in 1851, Causeyside being the common factor, can't see Jane or young Isabella though..

Civil Parish: Paisley Low Church
County: Renfrewshire
Address: 42 Causeyside
ED: 7; Page: 8; Line: 19; Roll: CSSCT1851_124

Andrew Ballock 59 [b. Paisley. HLW]
Isabella Pollock 60 [b. Loom, Argyleshire]
Peter Pollock 27 Son [b. Glasgow. HLW]
Andrew Pollock 5 G'son [b. Paisley. Scholar] Father = Peter.

Thanks Geoff.

Yes, I just looked for Isabella in 1851 and didn't find her.

I'd not rely on Causeyside because this is a 2nd John in my tree and they are weavers.

No baptisms yet found to help.

Ok, is the boarder, journeyman baker actually a widower?

Are the children with Elizabeth in 1871 the same children with Jane in 1861? Then Jane's spouse should be John and there should be a death for Jane before 1868.

Elizabeth ARROL can't be found in 1861. If age and status as widower rule that John POLLOCK out in 1861 then the one who married Elizabeth in 1868 can't be found in 1861 either.
