Hi all,

Need a bit of help to decypher surname of Elizabeth off of original record.

Elizabeth ?? occ. female labourer.
Born.- Buckinghamshire. 1828

Civil parish. -Illmer. (district8) eight
Hundred.- Ashendon
County. - Bucks.

Listed with:-

John Greene. b.1826 Buckinghamshire

The transcribed age is given as 13, on the original it appears to be 19. Any guidance please.

Hi Steve,
Any chance of a little more info please as there are several James greens in Bucks in 1841. Can you pinpoint the page ?

Thanks Gwen+MM.

My theory to the name. Could it be Elizabeth Mary Ives.

The I from the place name of Illmer looks very similar to the I in Ives ?
But the J's in Joseph, James and John, above her, have a long 'tail', so to speak.

I have been looking at this for ages, and writing down every conceivable name.
I found this entry by accident, by looking through all the census for Illmer (not that there's a lot to look through) and just wondered.

Hi Steve,

See what you mean, he drops his J down under the line, so it cant be Jones.
Looks like Ives as well. I cant make any other name out of it. The first letter could be I, but it could also be S, except no name comes out of a word beginning with S.

Hi MM,

I think 'Saw' could also be a candidate. There are a few Saw names dotted around that area.
Will put Elizabeth to notes, and will have to wait and see what pans out.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Steve

After a lot of scrutiny with the magnifying glass and comparison with the name of the village we think it could be ELIZABETH MAVIS IVES.

I hope this helps.

Gwen and the other half!! :D :2fun:

Thanks Gwen + the other half:biggrin:

I will put her into notes, as i said. She could be my G.G.Aunt but I have nothing to confirm this.
My G.G.grandfather was in the same area, but I did not find my G.G.G grandfather until 1851, and his name was transcribed as James Jass.(Ives)
Thanks again.
