Thanks Rupert.

Thanks gibbo.

James Brown junior.

The connection to my tree is Mrs Jordan.

Can't see the first marriage in NSW so possibly in Scotland.

14x James Brown deaths in NSW 1860 - 1865.

I can't see them in 1851 census yet if they arrived abt 1853.

Very few James Browns married to an Elizabeth and none with an occupation like boilermaker.

No age at death for Isabella.

Can't see a marriage around 1854 if he arrived single.

Thanks gibbo.

No sign of a birth/baptism in the index.

Must be two families in Newcastle. Coal merchant and boilermaker indicates different family.

So, if age at death is right for Isabella and arrival is right for James then Isabella was born in Australia. Perhaps he didn't arrive with wife and a few children. Possibly married here. Elizabeth Blair DUNN probably came from Scotland. As DUNN or BROWN ??
