Elizabeth (as REID) died 1888 - no age - eldest daughter of Mrs Marshall.

That is annoying. It says ... necropolis so searching Rookwood does not find the record.

Buried 20 Sep 1888.

Mrs D H Henderson ?? Can't find that one. * Possibly Margaret

If the children are listed in order and Elizabeth is the eldest then that one is the 2nd eldest and older than Isabella.

Qld. 1893/C055 William Henderson - Fanny Lavinia Brown

Thanks gibbo.

Thanks Rupert.

Elizabeth, Margaret Lindsay, Isabella, James jun. * should be Brown

Ages at death put them after the arrival of James.

Next one is Mrs A. Jordan (Allan M) = Agnes Marshall.

Births for Elizabeth, Margaret Lindsay, Isabella, James jun. * should be Brown

Marriage for James BROWN to Elizabeth.

It all seems too clustered together.

arrival abt 1853 ?
Elizabeth - no age at death but eldest
Margaret L abt 1854
Isabella abt 1856

We also have the uncle in Queensland. Mr. J. Ralston. I have not tried to trace him or his connection.

Wonder if 5 kids is a error. Their mother's death notice only has 4 children born Brown and that includes one that has already died, so if there was a 5th child dead or alive one would think that child would have been mentioned as well.

Mrs. D. Reid, ==Brown
Mrs. D. H. Henderson,==Brown
the late Mrs. A. Windon, ==Brown
and Mr. James Brown, ==Brown
Mrs. A. Jordan, and ==Marshall
Mrs. A. J. Taylor. == Marshall

late Mrs D Reid

It's looking as though the marriage is in Scotland and they arrived with daughter Elizabeth.

Will take a while to check 6 deaths in Qld.

Death 1943/C2697 John Frank Ralston - John Bryce - Elizabeth Brown

Not that one - aged 18 in 1917.

Thanks gibbo.

If 58 is correct then he is of the same generation as the children not of generation of James & Elizabeth born abt 1827.

Daughter Elizabeth married 1874 - 'of Glasgow' so if 1853 is arrival then born just before that so roughly same age.

No marriage in Qld. to 1900 for a J Ralston. 6 in NSW 1840s 1850s but no name that looks like a connection to Brown or Dunn or Blair.

Is Dunn a clue or something we should ignore?

Middle name is Blair but that has been no help so far.
