Goulburn Evening Penny Post (NSW : 1881 - 1940)
Tue 14 Jun 1898

Death of Mr. Thomas Brook,
Mr. Thomas Brook, of Bradley-street, died last night shortly after 12 o'clock after an illness of about four months from dropsy and heart disease. Deceased was 77 years of age, and had been a resident of Goulburn for about 25 years. It will be remembered that for some time he lived at East grove before its subdivision, and that that suburb was once known as Brook's Paddock. Mr. Brook, who was a native of Kent, England, leaves a widow, one son (Mr. George Brook, of North Goulburn), and three daughters--Mrs. Garrad, of Bowral, Mrs. Bicknell, who resides in Victoria, and Mrs. Hampshire, of Bradley-street. Mr. Brook was at one time a resident of Crookwell, and also resided at various times in other paris of New South Wales before taking up his abode here. He led a most estimable life, and was deservedly held in the highest respect. He came to this colony in 1839.

Goulburn Evening Penny Post (NSW : 1881 - 1940)
Tue 11 Apr 1899

Deaths.
Mrs. Brook, relict of the late Mr. Thomas Brook, died at her residence, Bradley-street, early this (Tuesday) morning at an advanced age, deceased being over 80 years. She had been in good health up to last Thursday, when a general break up of the system occurred. It will be remembered that Mr. Brook died in Goulburn about 12 months ago. Mrs. Brook and her husband were very old residents of the city, having lived here for over a quarter of a century. Deceased is survived by three daughters and one son, the latter being Mr. Edward George Brook, warder, now stationed at Maitland and formerly of Goulburn. Mrs. Theobald, wife of Mr. George Theobald, letter-carrier at the Goulburn Post-office, has just died in Sydney from an internal complaint. She had been ailing for upwards of 12 months. Deceased was an old resident of the city, and was about 64 years of age. She leaves one son and three daughters.
