Seems we have a John WATT and a James WATT married to an Ellen but I've found only one marriage. I have no death for John or James - spouse of 2x Ellen.

We have three buried in the same grave. The 'M' might be M= Male for an infant so is it this one:

146/1873 WATT WILLIAM - JAMES - HELEN - SYDNEY

So do we have mother and two children in that grave?

That would mean we have no death for my Ellen.

If the 15 Dec one #2422 is my Ellen why would she be in the same grave as the other two?

Are James and John the same person, Dave ?
No idea Geoff. I've looked at it with that as an error and 1x WATT married my Ellen and I've looked at it as 1x John and 1x James both married Ellen but I can't make sense of those three burials.

The 5 Dec Funeral notice with James has to fit the #2351 which is not my Ellen.

What I have in my tree is an Ellen born 1838 parents James and Ellen and a marriage to a John WATT and nothing after that. Ellen arrived in Australia with her mother.

I can't find a notice for the other two in that grave.

I also can't get on NSW BMD site again.

If we had Ellen UNKNOW - parents Alexander and Margaret married James WATT date and place unknown and had a daughter Ellen who died 15 Dec and mother died 5 dec. And a son william born 1872 who died 1873. All three in the same plot.

Leaving the 1859 marriage to John WATT for my Ellen and no children and no death for either yet found.

Sorry. It was her father James who arrived not her mother. I have no death for him either. He died some time after 1870 as per that last notice.

So we have gained a middle initial for John, an R.

Is there a birth in NSW before 1876 for an Ellen with parents James & Ellen?

Is there a marriage in NSW before 1874 for a James to an Ellen/Helen?

Looks to be the only birth that fits your criteria (includes 'Ellen' only with parents James Watt & Ellen)..

Ellen Watt
Birth Date: 1876
Father: James Watt
Mother: Ellen
Birth Place: New South Wales
Registration Year: 1876
Registration Place: Sydney, New South Wales
Registration Number: 3206

Thanks Geoff.

You can't tell from the reg # between a birth and a death which event took place first.

Death 2422/1876 WATT ELLEN - JAMES - ELLEN - SYDNEY

It's looking very much like mother and two children in that grave, and not my Ellen.

No, I've already tried with reference to 1876 burials, there's nothing else with exact dates :(
