ellis family and boldy family of south yorkshire

Hi I am trying to find the parents of my paternal grandmother Dorothy Ellis. she was born in 1916, she married alfred caddick in 1939. They had 2 children, Melvyn alfred and mavis. Dorothy died in 1958 when my father (melvyn) was only 14 and his father later remarried. I would also like any information regarding James Boldy on my mothers side of the family. he was born in 1866 in norton. he married eliza mangham ( born 1870) in 1888 in Brampton Bierlow, nr barnsley. I cannot find any more information on james. Thankyou to anyone who can help

I found a Dorothy Ellis married in 1939 and died in 1958 in the Rother Valley. As far as I know this is the area around Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham.

I found a birth of a Dorothy in 1916 in Doncaster and possible siblings Annie 1912 and Kathleen 1918 both Doncaster. They all had a mother named Armitage
There is a marriage of Frank William Ellis to Kathleen Armitage in Jun qtr 1908 Doncaster
Melvyn was born in Rother Valley, Mavis in Don Valley

These sound hopeful dave thankyou. The areas of barnsley, doncaster and rotherham are all closely linked. melvyn and Mavis are siblings and it would depend where they were registered for their births hence the rother valley and don valley.

Thankyou for this information dave. So looking at this James mother was Elizabeth ann boldy , shortened to ann boldy. There is no reference to a father so do i presume james and his siblings were born out of wedlock as in the 1871 census anns mother is also called boldy.
