No sign of John senior a school teacher with Ann in 1851?

Curious. I thought Ann was not listed as a widow until 1861 and that spouse John a school teacher was with her in 1851.

Oh. 1823 + 48 = 1871

So:

1851 should be Ann and spouse John
1861 should be Ann a widow with son John
1871 should be Ann a widow alone

Are they all at the same address?

John junior didn't leave until 1874 so he should still be in England in 1871 census but perhaps not with his mother.

He married in 1873 in London so perhaps he was there in 1871:

Too many John ELLISONs but again no sign of a death in Ashton.
Oh, ok, John senior could have died in Chorlton.

I have no info to help with John's (the school master) parents. If his middle initial is A then it's not shown in 1851 census or in any of the 4 possible deaths in Chorlton 1851-1861.

Hello Steve,

Even allowing for John to be 28 not 23 in 1851 and therefore one year older than Ann, I can't see a birth for a John in Yorkshire to parents John & Margaret.

About 10x as many ELLISONs born in Lancashire than in Yorkshire.

I wonder if we can find the marriage and if it's by chance Margaret CLEMENT.

The middle name Clement has to come from somewhere. I notice her middle initial is C.

No sign of a John ELLISON (variations) marriage to any Margaret in England 1818 +/- 10 years.

I'm searching Hugh Wallis' Middle Name site for a Margaret Clement ...

Looks as though C = Coates not Clement.
