Hello crankypants,

Thanks. I have April 1992 for Noela but it does not say England. She may have returned to Australia.

I can't see her death in Ryerson.

Regards,

Dave

What wonderful names for Eric & Myrtle.
There are 4 listings for Myrtle with all her names
in Aus. Electoral Rolls
1925 Townsville, 1930 Winton Qld, 1936 Sutherland Werriwa NSW, 1954 Gladstone Qld.
I can view rolls, I believe Eric was with her, he's in Holy Orders.

Hello Ozn,

I don't know yet when they went to England on a holiday.

Bulmer is his grandmother's name. She was from Yorkshire. His grandfather was from Cornwall.

I was given a date but no place, like lots on that side of my tree, for Myrtle's death.

Regards,

Dave

Hello Ozn,

Interesting character and very controversial figure his grandfather, ex miner from Cornwall:

www.adb.online.anu.edu.au/biogs/A040338b.htm

Methodist then Congregational minister.
First white man in the Kimberleys. ?
In 1892 he went to Queensland to open Yarrabah mission. Suffering from malaria he retired to Sydney where he died in Silver St Marrickville. His tombstone in the Waverley cemetery described him as the 'Blackfellows' Friend'.

Thanks so much Dave for the link.
What a fascinating bio. Just amazing how he helped our Aboriginal people, and later his son.
He was well travelled too in his quest.
I would never have known about him, so thank you again.

Re: Mytle Adelaide Noela GRIBBLE (ne BOUSFIELD)

Commonly called Noela.

Born 10 April 1903, Concord, Sydney; died 8 April 1992, Rockhampton Base Hospital.

Ashes interred at Rookwood cemetery, Sydney.

Eric and Noela visited the UK in 1966 to visit their daughter and family.
Noela made several visits to the UK.

John Brown GRIBBLE, the missionary, came to Australia as an infant, son of John Benjamin GRIBBLE from Redruth, Cornwall, UK; who came to Australia on the SS Blonde, 1840.

Thanks Mary.

Yes, I have the family on the 'Blonde' in 1848.

Also, do you know what section of Rookwood?

Would you know where Edith KENT was born?

Thanks.

1/ Happy to agree that SS Blonde arrived Oz 1848, not 1840 as I suggested.

2/ Agree Noela born Wickham, NSW, not Concord.

3/ Benjamin, father of John Brown, born in Redruth, Cornwall.

4/ Re plot at Rookwood cemetary: Plot No 2aw 14, 15 & 16 (I think they were in the C of E section).

5/ On August 3, 1932, plots 14 & 15 purchased by M. A. Bousfield. Also on October 23, 1933, plot no 16 was purchased by M. A. Bousfield.

Yes, known as John Brown but reg:

Births Sep 1847
Gribble Benjamin John Brown Redruth 9 249

The Sydney Morning Herald - Monday 12 June 1893 p.8
DEATHS
GRIBBLE.-June 2, at Silver-street, Marrickville, the Rev. John Brown Gribble, aged 45 years.

The Sydney Morning Herald - Friday 19 September 1930 p.10
IN MEMORIAM
GRIBBLE.-In cherished memory of our beloved parents, Rev. J. B. Gribble, who died June 2, 1893; and Mary Ann, his wife, who died September 19, 1928.
Jesu, in Thy tender keeping,
Leave we now our loved ones sleeping.
Inserted by their loving children.

His grandfather is Samuel and grandmother Elizabeth but researchers can't decide which of 2 Samuels and if it is Elizabeth BOAS/BOASS/BOASE/BOAZE or Elizabeth MARTIN ???

Marriage not found for either Samuel. Or two marriages for the one Samuel. ???

Benjamin baptised 30 Sep 1810 Redruth, Cornwall
