Hello there. Looking for info on my paternal grandmother. On my dad's BC listed as Ethel Baker, formerly Askew, 1 Hermm Gdns, Ilford
On the birth register she is listed as Askew.
Photo of BC attached
My father was born in a mother and baby home I presume; 29 The Avenue, Wanstead
Any help appreciated. I'm getting nowhere trying to trace her or any relatives
Thank you in advance
Jane

Unless anything can be gleaned from the family tree that Bootzy found. I would suggest getting Ethels marriage certificate to George Baker. This should give her age, father and his occupation and maybe one if the witnesses was a relative of hers. There’s quite a few Ethel Askew’s to determine which is the right one, also quite a few Ethel Baker’s.

Thank you
Yes, that is a very good idea
The divorce date works as my Dad was born in 1944, so it stands to reason there was a divorce between Ethel and Mr Baker in 1945!

All this advice and information is very much appreciated

I really had no clue the best course of action on this as my searches have proven limited, so a wedding cert it is!
