Hello,

Ethel THORNLEY b. 1887 Petersham, NSW

Alice Jane THORNLEY b. 1867 Lancashire
Betsy THORNLEY b. 1870 Lancashire

I have them in England in 1911 census.

Can Alice Jane and Betsy/Betsey be found arriving in Australia in 1912 or 1913 or 1914?

Can all three be found arriving in England in 1912 to 1914 on the same vessel?

Is Ethel on the same vessel? If not can Ethel be found arriving back in Australia in 1914 before or after her aunts?

Ethel married in NSW in 1914 but I don't have the full details. I don't know if it was before or after the arrival of her aunts.

There is an alternative theory. :D Ethel never left Australia and the two aunts arrived after Ethel's marriage. Wish I had the date of the marriage.

Regards,

Dave

I don't think they swam both ways. :2fun:

I'm wondering how much truth there is in the family history if no other shipping records can be found.

Please check TROVE and see if I've missed the notice. Thanks gibbo. :) The date would be very interesting to see if the marriage was before or after the aunts arrived.

There are several very small trees that have Ethel's birth as 1886 which is possible if registered the following year but they have her death as 1961 which does not fit:

Birth 6197/1887 THORNLEY ETHEL - WILLIAM - BETSY - PETERSHAM

Death 29413/1960 RUNCIMAN ETHEL - WILLIAM - BETSY - SYDNEY

RUNCIMAN Ethel Death notice 25OCT1960 Death SMH 28OCT1960
