Don't know if it is the same Thomas and Sarah or if in 1841 they were in Birmingham.

The 1841 Census shows Thomas and Sarah with a David. David Evans was born 15 Feb 1811 and baptised 25 Feb 1811 at the Wednesbury Weslyan Methodist Chapel, parents Thomas and Sarah , abode Hocker Hill. Jemima born 21 Jan 1813 bapt 24 Mar 1813 also at the Weslyan Chapel in Wednesbury. I can't find any more nonconformist baptisms. However the following children were baptised at Tipton St Martin to Thomas, a Labourer, and Sarah.
Isaac 1798
Elizabeth 1802
Susanna 1805
James 1806
Mary Ann 1807
Mary 1809
Eleanor 1815, abode Copper Hill
Roseanna 1820 abode Princes End
Betsey Ann 1822 Princes End
Anna Maria 1824 Princes End.

There is a burial for a Thomas Evans 15 Jan 1850 of Gospel Oak, Tipton born 1766 as per the age in 1841.

There is a burial for a Sarah Evans 1 April 1855 of Gospel Oak born 1777 as per 1841

1851
HO107/2029/F481/p40
Gospel Oak Buildings, Tipton
Sarah Evans widow 74 (1777) Shropshire
David Evans son 40 (1811) Tipton
Ann Evans dau 14 (1837) Tipton.
plus several granchildren surname Taylor and Evans

No way can Ann, born 1837, be Sarah's daughter as Sarah would have been 60 when she was born. Nor can I find a baptism for her.

Pick the bones out of that lot!

I have found only one marriage for a Mary Evans to a Tarling

Mary Evans/John Tarling 10 May 1837 Kennington St Mark, London

!841 Census doesn't give marital status but by 1851 she was a widow.

Thanks Emeltee.

Two Wesleyan baptisms in the middle. Looks like several changes of abode. Perhaps they just went to the nearest church. A bit curious.

Occupation for Thomas in 1841 thanks.

This is my hunt for a Jemima Evans born abt 1812 - not born Warwickshire. In 1841 census in Birmingham but in Australia by 1842 so no pob in 1851 census.

The image of the CofE marriage has Jemima's father as Thomas a Stock Taker.

Burials in Sydney were CofE. Baptisms of Jemima's children in Sydney were CofE.

Thomas as a labourer in 1841 does not fit with 'Stock taker' in the marriage.

I think there is a Thomas Evans in Birmingham in 1841 with occupation as 'Stock ... ?' but wife may not be a Sarah.

Possible Emeltee.

Jemima married in Birmingham and 1841 clearly has not born in county. I have a copy of her NSW death certificate and it has born Birmingham and father as James. I think both are errors. No occupation given for James.

If there is a Thomas Evans in Birmingham and a 'Stock Taker' then I think it causes a bit of a problem.

We have nothing definite that says Jemima was from Tipton. Well, we have not ruled the Tipton one in or out yet.

Sorry, I think our posts crossed. First of all don't necessarily believe the Not born in County. I have a gt whatever grandfather who, in 1841, is down as born in Lancashire when in 1851 he gives place of birth as Stepney, London, which is where he was born and baptised.

The occupation of Thomas Evans 55 in Birmingham 1841 looks like Stock Sock or Sack. He is with wife Elizabeth 45 and daughters Eliza 19 and Ann 15. I can find baptisms in Wolverhampton for both Eliza and Ann parents Thomas, a Locksmith and Elizabeth. Checking the Wolverhampton baptisms they also had Roseanna 1827 and William 1823 but no Jemima.

Thanks Emeltee.

The Tipton one not ruled in or out yet.

Wish we had the shipping record.

Father as Thomas from the marriage. Mother possibly Sarah as per death certificate. Born abt 1813 Birmingham or not.

We've looked in a previous topic for daughter Emma, clearly born before 1841 and baptised in Sydney but not with them in 1841 census.

I've tried searching every which way but the only Jemima Evans born 1810-1820 with parents Thomas and Sarah is the one you have found in Tipton. Unless she wasn't baptised or the baptism is not yet on line.
