MR. PHILLIP CHOWN.
The death occurred in Grenfell Hospital on Friday of Mr. Phillip Chown, who had been an inmate of the institution for three weeks, but had been ailing for a long period.
He was 72 years of age.
Deceased who was an esteemed resident of the Burrowa district retired from active work about four years ago and came to live at Grenfell, one of his daughters (Mrs. Buckmaster) being already in residence here.
He leaves a widow and ten children - Messrs. James and Cecil Chown, and Mrs. E. Privett (Bowning), Mrs. Humphries (Mildura), Malcolm (Forbes), Colin and Agnes (Sydney), Mrs. Buckmaster (Grenfell), Kenneth (Grenfell). He was of a family of 14, of whom one brother and sister survive.
A niece of the late Mr. Chown's was Matron Chown, formerly in charge of Grenfell District Hospital.
The funeral left Holy Trinity Church on Saturday afternoon, following a service conducted by Rev. A. S. Rowe, who also officiated at the cemetery.
