Thanks Emeltee.

I've mainly used the local library's access to A... to look up Australia Electoral Roll images but recently started looking at some census images and found just as many mistakes in transcriptions with them as with the rolls.

I will work through my tree and try to look at every census image so I have my version of it.

I could post 50 images where there are very obvious errors in the transcriptions in the census I've looked at over the past two weeks.

Not sure what the transcription error is. I have found Charles and his family in 1841/1851/1861/and 1871. I have also found the GRO Ref for his marriage to Jane Jackson in 1840. If you want the details just say so. I don't intend typing that lot out unless you want it!

No need thanks Emeltee.

I have the images of all those census on my computer and I'm working my way tonight from 1881 to 1841.

The transcription in post #1 is from FS. I expected the residence to be listed as Truant School.

Now I have the full thing - Truant School Protestant Section

You're right. Fmp states Protestant Section in the transcription but there is nothing saying that on the image. Is everyone copying from FS?

I don't know.

That one was minor. Other errors can be more serious re tracing family if pob is wrong or age or occupation. It will take me several years to look at every census image in my tree.

Just out of interest if you look at the image of the original for 1841 it actually says Ch and not CC. The ref for his marriage has him down as Charles Douglas.

Thanks Geoff.

I'm making no progress with this one. Don't even know if parents on death reg are correct.

Can't check if Charles arrived with his daughter or not.

I'm going to have to start downloading some of the 200 updates it's claimed my OS needs.

I googled Spert House and got no hits.
