Ewers Family

Hi

I have been researching the Ewers family and have hit a stumbling block. Found John Benjamin Ewers b 11th Oct 1868 in Bucks. Have managed to trace him on 1871 and 1881 census but after that nothing. Did find a John Ewers living in London in later life but all the census show him as being born 1858 Waddesdon. Can anyone help me find this person.

1871, John B 3 is living with father Benjn 39 mother Rebecca 28 and brother Alfred 1

1881 John B is living with his mother 38 Wid, Alfred 11, Amos 8, Andrew 6 and Henry 1, all lodging with John Wheeler 65

1891 Rebecca 45 wid is with Alfred 21 and William G 6 - I wonder where he came from as Rebecca was a widow.
Henry aged 11 was in lodgings, no sign of John

did John join the army, emigrate, die or was adopted and changed his name? any which way, I can't find him.

hang on I may have something.

I looked for a child of a different name born in 1868 in Ashendon and I've just realised I found a John B Wheeler, which is the name of the head of the household in 1881

needs some looking at so back later

so far I've not found any conflicting records, but still questions still to be answered

and I've just found the clincher
Rebecca, the mother maiden name was Wheeler and it was her father she was with in 1881. John was born with his mother's maiden name, Wheeler, but christened Ewers, but he reverted to Wheeler when he married
