No worries BRL,
When going through parish records, you will see numerous "spurious" words and some even worse!
I remember doing some research in a local parish records on a woman, what I thought at the time was an ancestor of mine (but later found she wasn't!). She had around 9 children!
The first born where called "spurious", but later the wording became stronger - I should imagine that the local vicar / priest was so fed up with her coming every year with another new born, that he started using B......d half way through!!
But it is not un-common, I've seen loads.
