L’Aigle, meanwhile, departed from Gravesend for the South Seas fishery grounds again on February 20, 1825 under the command of Captain Dixon, returning in October, 1827. Dixon took L’Aigle out a second time, and L’Aigle paid her last call to Honolulu harbor in late October 1829. On March 6, 1830, L’Aigle ran aground on a reef and was lost fifteen to twenty miles northeast of Tongatapu

I asked someone for any information 3-4 years ago Re his and other shipwrecked sailors entry / papers to Australia , I was told in that period 1800s no records were kept .
Information of shipwreck is on Trove for L’Aigle 21 April 1830
Yes I have read the articles in Trove but no names were mentioned so really there is no proof that he was in fact on that ship. I think we need to confirm if he was or was not on that particular ship before going any further.

Probably a long shot but i would contact the National Maritime Museum in the UK and see if they would have anything on that shipwreck such as names of crew etc. Shipwrecks seem to stand out in Museums so could be worth a try, no harm done if they havent got anything.

Maybe being a mariner would have kept at sea for periods of time.. That said no other record/s connect him to later events.

If this is him, it does confirm he was was picked up by the tranmere from the wreck of the L'Aigle.. along with other crew and officers.

New South Wales, Australia, Unassisted Immigrant Passenger Lists, 1826-1922:
Chas Fairman
Port of Departure: Tongatabro
Port of Arrival: Port Jackson, New South Wales
Voyage Arrival Date: 20 Apr 1830
Vessel Name: Tranmere

That looks really good Geoff, just what I have been looking for to help confirm he was in fact on the ship.

Many thanks to all members Re my Fairman family look ups .
I have found the family of Charles and Anna ( previous Ellen Power ) living in Bega , Candelo , Wolumla New South Wales .
Records show Charles b 1809 Southwark died in England in 1857.
I have copy of death certificate states Charles b Brighton England d Tantawanglo New South Wales 1889 age 78 which would have Charles b about 1811 in Brighton England , but I have failed to find any details of him there ( England )
I have recently been given information re a Charles Fairman b 1806 Croydon , Surrey England , no marriage , no death details at all in England , maybe he was on the whaling ship ( L’Agile ) shipwrecked and came to Port Jackson on Barque Tranmere in 1830, it is all conjecture and full of mystery ( driving me crazy )
Now the father of this Charles has the name Joseph Fairman which my Charles in Australia named his first son ( Joseph ) also his other children had names of his siblings Ann , Sarah , which can ( or not ) suggest this is my Charles
What I probably need is any information of this Charles whilst in England 1806+
Best Regards

I've lost the thread a little since last looking at this..

There is this for starters. Beddington is very close to Croydon on the Western side..

London, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1538-1812:
Charles Fairman
Record Type: Christening (Baptism)
Date: 25 Dec 1806
Place: St Mary, Beddington, Sutton, Surrey, England
Father: Joseph Fairman
Mother: Amy Fairman
Register Type: Bishop's Transcript

There are trees that have his parents as:

"Joseph Fairman
1776–1816
b. Crayford, Kent

Amy Pratt
1778–186
b. Mitcham, Surrey"

I haven't checked them yet.
