how can you trace your family after the 1901 census as i have just found that my great aunty had children and they were born in 1892/1896 can find them when they were 9/5 but after then cannot. Just was wondering if anybody know where else to look.

Hi Deisel

You can check the 1911 census online (pay per view), England is complete now I believe.

Also you can trawl the Marriage index to see if you can find any likely marriages for them. Sending for a certificate may give you some extra information.

Hi Deisel,
1911 is available online. Need to pay for credits to search though.

Thanks just has a phone call from a relative and told me about a Aunty that is still alive and was born they think in 1927. I asked them what is her name and i don't know where she is in my family tree as i have'nt got anybody with this name. Mary Harris born 1927 owed a post office in doncaster and had a brother who was killed in the air force he was based in finingley. See my dilema. Just don't know where to look.

If you know approximate age you can look up free BMD and then apply for birth certificate. Post masters mistresses have a list. There is a post office museum in London I believe where you could look up her employment history. Old electoral registers will give you some info. (They can be found at the nearest local archive for where she lived) Ancestry list telephone directory entries so that might give you a clue to how long she was there. Local papers may mention her as post office mistress is usually a prominent person in the community. And there is of course church records and parish magazines.

Hi Deisel,
Try and set up a meeting with her, if it's possible. She may have a good knowledge of other relatives.

Did a quick search and found a Mary Harris born Dec quarter 1927 in Barnsley West Yorkshire. But obviously living relative would confirm if that is correct birth.
