Hello everyone
I have a newbie question that I suspect may have been asked a million times so please forgive me.
If I have a birth certificate with only the childs name on it and the birth registry index only has the mother's maiden name where do I look to find the fathers full name?
Thankyou

If it only has the mother's maiden name then the child is probably illegitimate, does the child have the same surname name as the mother??

Thank you for the replies, since posting I've found out there are 2 types of birth certificate! ( doh! told you I was new to this)we have the 'short' version , obviously the 'long ' one will have the info we're after.
Every day is a school day😊.
Thank you again , nice to know there are people out there to help us 'beginners'
