Thanks Gibbo. :)

Could be although I can't find her in 1841 census. That could be because of the way the name was transcribed or because she left before the census.

Might have to check there is no marriage in Victoria for that one.

Ok, thanks. I'll check tomorrow.

With Catherine being assisted I'd expect some other part of the shipping record to say something like: Relations in Colony: son and married daughter.

Vic. BMD is still down. Must have had a major server crash. Still down.

Where do you think I've been the last 30 minutes? :2fun:

Yes. John died 7 Aug 1895 and the executors he named refused to act as executors. John & Mary had no next of kin in Victoria. That's all I noted so far. We need age at death.

Can only see Mary's death and funeral notice in TROVE in 1898 - aged 69. That's abt 1819 same as John. Looks likely to be the one.

Curious. The Probate papers say they had no next of kin in Victoria yet there is a John McMURCHY who died in Victoria in 1926 aged 60 - spouse is Betsy.

Very curious. Notice in TROVE in 4 Oct 1935 re the Estate of John the blacksmith who died in 1895 asking for next of kin etc... to lodge claims...

Thats strange

I found a death in Trove for a John MCMURCHY in 1890 but his mother lived in Tassie so that rules him out. His mother went under another name as well.

I missed it also for awhile. I thought that was the death of John senior. I edited it by adding son. Then found Catherine arrived as a widow. Found Catherine and children John & Flora in 1841 posted to Scotland board topic.

Curious why they are not on the list for Young Cemetery. I guess no expensive headstone that has lasted. Plenty seem in quite good condition from the photos.

We still have not found when John b. Nov 1819 arrived, sometime after the 1841 census and before 1866.

PROV and Vic. BMD are both down.
