After my wifes grandfathers burial, a few years ago. We had a little wander around the beautifly manicured graveyard. It was stone wall surrounded and situated in a small valley in the village of Fyyvie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
As we wandered amongst the graves we looked at some of the inscriptions on the headstones.
One headstone caught our eye so we stopped and studied it a bit closer. It was quite an old headstone, but looked as good as new. We read the details on it, and we were just about to walk away, when I noticed a small inscription at the bottom partialy hidden by the grass.
It Read:- "If whisky be the food of life, why am I here."
Steve.
