There are so many things we dont hear or learn about.

I only knew about this as Dad had told me. Dad was in the Army and stationed in Cyprus in the mid to late 1950's. He was one of the men who had to go and retrieve bodies of those who were killed in the fire.

R.I.P to those who lost their lives.

Thanks Gibbo, not sure if there's anyone within my own Regimental Association that remembers this event, but I do know the Regiment I joined were stationed in Cyprus at some point during the EOKA times.
R.I.P to them all.

Dad worked under the Cyprus Police for a short time as well. He only ever spoke about the good times in the army but spending so much time with him before he passed some of the other stories started to come out. Very proud of my dad.

This year I'm travelling down to Brecon for the Regimental Annual Reunion (haven't been able to do that for a few years), so there is every likelihood I may come across some ex-Cyprus people. I've put it in my diary so that I won't forget - old age and cheap beer isn't good for the brain these days. :2fun::2fun:

Gibbo, the system in the UK has a separate department and from memory, if you are the next of kin, there is no charge, although that was a couple of years ago. After Easter, I'll pm you with how we do it, and it may help.
