If you are researching a family in the Chesterfield district known as the Hundred of Scarsdale I have found a great resource. It was originally printed in 1895 but has been reprinted a paperback.

Its called The History of the Borough of Chesterfield: with Some account of the Hundred of Scarsdale by John Pym Yeatman. You may get the original out of your library. It is full of names, in charters, the names of archers who were at Agincourt you name it. Well wortha read if you have family in that area right up to the Sheffield border.

Hi Duckweed..spent the night in Darton,nr Barnsley last week...went into Chesterfield the following day, noticed the crooked spire.............think the brickies were all on the lash when building that church spire.
Sounds like an interesting read.
