Frank above came out to Australia on the Orvieto from London to Sydney with his daughter Isabelle aged 27, a domestic servant. Leaving 6th March 1920

He was born in 1860 in Dunbar, East Lothian. He died in Australia at St Leonard's (NSW?) in 1923 after being hit by a lorry. His inquest was on 2nd May 1923 and is quite clearly him as it says born Dunbar.

I have this feeling Frank was coming out to be with other relatives as his many brothers and sisters all disappear from Scotland. I was hoping a funeral would give some info but am not finding anything on Trove. I swear that site curls up and dies when it sees me coming.

Can you do a wee bit magic please.

Thank you

Barbara

Thanks Geoff. Yes his parents were Alexander and Elizabeth (Robertson)
Strangely they seem to have married twice. Once in 1842 in Melrose and 1843 in nearby Stow. I have heard of Banns but not a year apart.

They had lots of children but seemed to move around so much even into England:eek: and back that I can't keep track of them and sure some of them will have gone to Australia. I have them in 1861 in Dunbar, Kilsyth, Stirling in 1851 and only Elizabeth and Frank in 71 in Galashiels. There was an Alexander born Dunbar in 1858 and a Wm born in England in 1853 and some girls who may, of course, have married and be impossible to find with a name like McGregor in Scotland.

I just think Isabelle and Frank must have been going out to somebody.

Sorry, prob more than you needed.

Yes, I saw them. They have mother Munro but she was def Robertson. I have the birth. Alex was late married so it is possible that he was married before. I am considering that one and perhaps there is some truth in the trees who have a much older John (1832?) as a brother but not sure as yet.

sorry have to go just now.
Will have a fresh look at those trees in the morning and see if there is anything I can glean.

Thanks
Barbara

They may not be on the electoral roll. Even if we knew they were the search during 1920s would mean looking at every fiche in the library because we don't know what Division or Sub-division.

Some of the arrivals to Victoria are also on NSW Records but the 1920 one is not.

That was lucky.

Rookwood
ISABELL MCGREGOR 37 20/07/1921 Zone C NN 2706

??
WILLIAM McGREGOR 50 2/10/1919 Zone C NN 2329

MCGREGOR WILLIAM E 21388/1919 5O YRS SYDNEY SYDNEY

??
ALEXANDER MCGREGOR 71 29/05/1928 Zone C NN 3247

MCGREGOR ALEXANDER 9573/1928 DONALD LUCY PARRAMATTA * looks to be ruled out

??
ALEXANDER MCGREGOR 54 28/01/1933 Zone C NN 4301

MCGREGOR ALEXANDER 1853/1933 54 YEARS COAST HOSP RANDWICK

I've only looked at Rookwood for a, i and w so far. And only McGregor.

It also does not say what NN is.

What other names are we looking for?

Must be the same family as there is nothing in Trove for any of them.

Actually, I have no idea if any of them belong.
