Frank Newton 1875/6 Dukinfield Cheshire

Hi , I have a Frank Newton born 1875/6 in Dukinfield Cheshire . He marries a Mary Ellenor Ellis Taylor in 1900 at St Marks church in Dukinfield Cheshire . Frank states on his marriage cert that his father is William Newton , he also puts his address as Wood Street Dukinfield Cheshire . I can trace Frank in 1900 and 1901/1911 and I have Mary a widow in 1939 living on Bridge Street Stalybridge Cheshire. My problem is that I cannot find Frank anywhere with a William ( his father) in the 1881 /1891 census . Anyone help please.

You would think so but we all know how wrong census's can be. Stockport is about 9 miles from Dunkinfield.

Hi Thanks so much for looking for me , it really is a puzzle I'm beginning to think Frank just made William up . I shall have a look at these but failing that I shall try and send for Franks birth cert see if that sheds any light on his father, I keep coming back to him as I can't move back any further . Frank would of been my Great Grandfather his children where

Checked with my mother and she confirms that these are her Father Stanleys brothers , she remembers Mary and her father Stanley telling her life was hard as his father had died whilst he was still young .

So far I can't find this one in 1881 census. Now looks to be 4x Frank born about the same time in the area.

Maybe the Ogden one , I shall check what yourself and solid rock have supplied carefully , would help if I could find this William on his other children's marriage certs , I'm not sure if I should send for one of their marriage Certs or take a punt on ordering lots of Frank Newton birth Certs....
