Help please .
I am looking for the birth of Frega Brennan b abt 1854 Birkenhead Cheshire.
The information I have is from the 1861 census.
I can find no other reference to her.
I have all the other children in the family from birth to 1901 / death but nothing for Frega.
I don't know if Frega is pet name or a shortened version of some other name. I am really at a loss.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Jane,

No luck with Frega. Maybe the enumerator could'nt read his own handwriting.
Did you find the family in 1871? because I've looked but can't find them.

The enumerators T and F look very similar but that still dosnt help.

Found them in 1871 mother under the name of Jane . There is a daughter Elizabeth born abt 1854, so she may have been recorded as Eliza in 1861.

Hi Julie,
The daughter Elizabeth 1853 is my g grandmother. Both she and Frega are on the 1861 census.
I have been looking for Frega for over 2 years I keep trying, find nothing then put it on the back burner for a while. But she can't hide forever.

She can't hide forever.
I've spent half the day checking and re-checking all the BDM listings I can find in case there has been a transcription error along the way.
This side of my family are just so frustrating. Originally Brannon, then Branning on the 1851 census then Brennan on the 1861 census.
Half the children are registered as Brannan and the other half as Brennan. My g grandmother known as Elizabeth on all the census and her marriage cert. Her birth was registered as Eliza.
But I won't be beaten.

Jane,

I've looked and looked. Increased and decreased the census image to get get a better look at the name.

Another option is to look at the parish records. Hopefully all the children would be under that same parish.

I have checked the parish records for the area in the past with no joy.
It may be because they were Catholic that the details aren't there.
Her parents were married at St Werbergh's RC chapel in Birkenhead.

After another hour trawling through the BDM's I think that I may have stumbled across something.
My g grandmother Eliza Brennan's birth kept cropping up.
Low and behold another Brennan registered in Wirral. in the same quater , same reg no.
Is this a twin ? Is it the missing Frega registered as Ann after her mother ?
I will send for the certificate to check it out.
