Definitely Alfred on his own. No sign of gertrude anywhere. Could Alfred have come back to England with the Army and perhaps Gertrude travelled back alone at a later date. Daughter Doris wasn't born until the September quarter 1902.

1911 Census shows that they had 3 children, one of whom died.
Annie Loisa Mary Fuller born 30 October 1899, baptised 4 December 1899 at St Peter's Church, Fort William, Calcutta, India
Annie Louisa M Fuller 1900 Kasauli, India (Source GRO Army Death Indices 1881-1955 page 528 line 73)

Doesn't help in finding Gertrude but might fill a gap.
Thanks emeltee.

No sure if wives would have travelled on the same vessels.

I didn't have Annie.
Doris is the connection. I have her birth as 10 June.

Marriages Jun 1930 Hendon 3a 1031
10 or 17 May ??

I have a very old handwritten family tree passed down from my grandmother. I can't read the date of the marriage.
1939 Register
8 Wieland Rd Ruislip-Norwood Middlesex
Schedule 78
Ernest W Hamilton, 12 May 1892, M, Senior Examiner Estate Duty Office Somerset House
Doris Hamilton, 10 Jun 1902, M, Unpaid domestic work
Then 2 locked entries [Patrick and Jean] [Brian died ?]
The next schedule is 79
Thanks emeltee.

Strange the family tree also had no marriage and no death for Brian. The tree lists a marriage and three children for Patrick and Jean.
Ernest's father George married Susan Andersson who was born Cork, Ireland, hence names like Patrick.

Births Sep 1932 HAMILTON Brian - Uxbridge 3a 87 mmn FULLER

Born about the same time and excluding those with a middle initial.

Births Dec Qtr 1931 Hamilton Brian - Hollows Oldham 8d 1053

Births Jun Qtr 1932 Hamilton Brian - Nightingale Manchester N 8d 569

Deaths Sep Qtr 1952 HAMILTON Brian 20 Whitby 1b 697

No Probate record found.

The Brian whose death was registered in Whitby was possibly buried at Leeming, North Yorks. The memorial inscription there says just B Hamilton aged 20. Strange no full name but there was an RAF station there so perhaps he was based there and just the initial is the official format?

I can't find an unmarried Mary Marshall born Yorkshire abt 1856 in 1891.

The only Mary Marshall born Otley abt 1856 I can find in 1901 and 1911 is with mother Margaret.

No death for an Ann Marshall born abt 1855 in 1925 or 1926 in England.

I can't find Thomas Marshall and wife Mary Ann in 1861 or 1871. Lots of different occupations but not tailor or draper.

GRO is down for me so I'm making no progress.

Perhaps the birth in Otley for Mary is the wrong one.

Looking at the original of the 1881 Census Mary's age could well be 28, it's not very clear
