Thanks, Rupert..

Interesting that the change of name was c2 years before Joseph's indictment. Was Thomas privy to any wrongdoing by his brother/father prior to 1877?

Geoff

Yeah, unless Joseph prior to 1877 had some questionable fraud dealings, Thomas changed his name so as not to be associated with him.

Could be a number of reasons.

Yep, on the face of it, Thomas was successful and/or of better character without wrongdoing :)

Dear Rupert,

You have surpassed all my expectations with the Galmoye family information. What family scandal, no wonder Thomas changed his name. I am overwhelmed with all the posts, you've been busy.

I will enjoy placing all of this on my family tree. Funny thing is my cousin from the Galmoye family will be with us on Friday for a weekend break. As a Galmoye he might just find this all very entertaining particularly since he is also a Jones; he is directly related to those individuals mentioned.

Genealogy can be great fun as you have proved and it certainly has a buzz about it.

Thank you for sharing your expertise and also for the attachments.

Thank you so very much.
