Does anyone know if it is possible to combine two gedcom files into one. I unfortunately wrote up both mine and other halves trees up on separate files on Family tree maker and uploaded mine to Ancestry but would really like them to be one without having to sit and type it all in all over again:eek:

Hello Snowy,

First question. How many individuals overlap in the two files? I've never used FTM but I do know that the free PAF 5 can import two GEDCOMs and merge them. The merge function is 'tricky' to use if you have hundreds of overlaps but easy if you only have a few.

Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave
Thanks for repllying.
I finally figured it out last night...up til 3 in the morning determined to sort the little bugger out.
I was lucky that the only overlap we had was us lol, took me off his and him off mine and voila...I feel sooooooooo clever this morning :D
Thanks again
Snowy

Hmm, it's a shame these things aren't easier to solve. I would hope not to be up to 3am trying to wrestle with gedcom issues.

Still, glad you got the problem fixed :) Now I know if I ever need to do that.
