Geoghan

#1
I have been searching for some years now to hopefully find anyone who knows of the GEOGHANS possibly from Galway

My gt grandfather was Stephen Geoghan born abt 1841, he came to Stafford, date unknown, and married Louisa Paddison

In 1881 she and her children were in the Stoke on Trent workhouse, the children except for the eldest son Patrick, were sent to Canada in 1885
Stephen re appeared on the 1901 census, stating he was single, his wife had remarried in 1885 stating she was a widow! had she been told Stephen was dead? was he in Ireland during the missing years?

My grandfather, his name changed to Gagan, left Canada in 1901 and went to Scotland, his sisters remained in Canada, I am still searching for any descendants, no luck so far.

I know there were still family in Ireland, my mother had taken my two elder brothers there to visit them before WW2, but I never knew about them, or where they lived.

I would dearly love to make contact with any of the family.

If anyone knows anything about this family would they please contact me, thank you
