Also Geo S and not just George.

And a different occupation.

The 1870 marriage would be a good starting point with the two children born 1871 and 1872.

That 1881 was chosen because of this:

John Ferrier son 8 Inveresk, Mid Lothian
So, are there 2?

It's son John who ends up in Australia. His death in WA indicates a middle name which is not seen in other records - H = Hunter probably.

#30 FERRIER JOHN H Male WILLIAMS 1944

Williams is the district.

These don't fit that 1881:

John Mc Donald Ferrier
birth: 18 May 1873 STOBHILL,MIDLOTHIAN,SCOTLAND
mother: Ann Ferrier

John Perret Ferrier
birth: 27 June 1872 EDINBURGH,MIDLOTHIAN,SCOTLAND
father: Thomas Ferrier
mother: Amelia Kerr

So need a marriage for a George S to an Ann/Annie.

Hello dave,

You were right to question it.

Several assumptions had been made by those who supplied details to me previously and by myself.

Sorted now.
