Has anyone any ideas about the deaths of Thomas Washford born September 1838 and died December 1846 aged 8 and also George Washford born 18 December 1835 and died 18 October 1846 aged 10. I wondered if there had been a flu epidemic or they died in accidents, they lived in Shadoxhurst, Kent. Is there anyway of finding out what happened to them, it seems to a tragedy for the family.:(:(

Hi just a quick question about Shadoxhurst.
Would the births/deaths be rego'd Ashford West/East?

Have you contacted Kent Online Parish Clerk at all?
I was wondering if they may have something in their archives for the time frame?
I would think childhood diseases would be the cause of death but that's just a guess.
KOPC may help you with a link to local newspapers.

All the best me dear

Thank you for the information, it looks like that there was a Typhoid epidemic in 1846 where George and Thomas Washford lived and died, also there was a James Henley Washford who died in 1859 aged 5 and there was a smallpox epidemic going around there in Kent.
