On Tuesday, afternoon quite a gloom was cast over Moruya (reports the 'Examiner" when it became known that Mrs Celia Ann Barling, wife of Mr. George Barling, had shot herself dead at her residence, Church street Moruya. it appears that the unfortunate woman had just cleaned up after partaking of dnner with her two sons and two daughters, her husband being away at Bermagui, where he is manager of the freezing works, and that when the family, had all left the house she went into the bedroom, and, getting a.box of cartridges, placed two in abreech-loader, which was also in the room at the time. She then, apparently ,placed her false teeth and brooch on the bed, and, having tied a string to the triggerof the gun, divested herself of a shoe and walked into the kitchen. Here she evidently placed the muzzle under her jaw, and with her bared foot pulled the string and exploded the weapon, which blew her face to atoms and killed her instantaneously. An inquest was held by the Coroner, Mr. Shepherd, on the following morning when a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane was returned. No cause for the rash act was elicited at the inquiry, her son, George Barling, a returned soldier, who was the last to leave her after the midday meal, statng that she was, apparently, in the best of good humor.
