Hi, I am searching for George Buckley born in about 1813 ( age 25 in 1841 census) who married Maria Darlington in 1833 in Wolstanton, Staffordshire.
They had 3 children, Mary Buckley m. William Booth, Anne Buckley M. Thomas Gibson and John Buckley.
Maria, his wife, died in 1842 of “ Lack of food and the necessities of life”.
I cannot trace George after the 1841 census.
I would love to find out what happened to George and who his parents were.
Thanks for your help,

Lee

Have you got the marriage certs for Mary and Anne and is George listed as deceased?
I should have said - yes I have Mary’s marriage certificate in 1853 - it says her father George is deceased - but I have been unable to find a likely death certificate for him - I have copies of certificates for 2 George Buckley’s dying in Stoke on Trent in 1842 and 1849 respectively but they are not for the right man

You say about Maria's death in 1842 that she died of "Lack of food and the necessities of life”. Do you have her death cert and was that written on it? Did she die in the workhouse? What was her marital status on the death cert?

Who are the witnesses on Mary's marriage cert.?

Thanks for uploading Maria's death cert which throws up more questions to sort out. She died at Wellington Place, Tunstall, would like to find out who was living there in 1841/51 and why she was there in '42. George Darlington was the informant I assume that he was her elder brother born c.1805, then where was George her husband at the time? The children were not with her brothers family in 1851.

Maybe this has some thing to do with Maria's death, husband George not being around, ( maybe he was arrested and in Jail), and the children's disappearance. A total of 274 people were brought to trial in the special assizes that followed, of whom 146 were sent to prison.
