Hello,

1871 U.K Census
Civil parish: Almondbury
Ecclesiastical parish: St Stephen
Town: Almondbury
County/Island: Yorkshire
Country: England
Registration district: Huddersfield
Sub-registration district: Almondbury
Address: Wood Top
CALVERT, George Head W age 31 1840 Cloth Merchant, Lockwood, Yorkshire
I can't find George in 1881 and I can't see a death that fits either. His middle name is Henry.

Births Jun 1839
Calvert George Henry Huddersfield 22 386

Please see if you can find George in 1881. Thanks.

Regards,

Dave

Hi I cannot find him in 1881 either. But this is a long shot perhaps worthy of further investigatiom

George Calvert married Mary Ann Ramsden 1871 1q York 9d 41

so just missed being married in 1871 census

Then the probate calender has a death of George Calvert 6 6 1878 at Huddersfield with assests under £1000 probate granted to Mary Anna Calvert

He was living in the Huddersfield district in 1871

I have not had time to look for any children yet born between 1871 and 1878

if you think this worthy of further search do let me know

Hello dochines,

Thank you very much. Several things. George's first spouse died:

Deaths Sep 1870
Calvert Sarah 31 Huddersfield 9a 221

The Huddersfield Chronicle and West Yorkshire Advertiser (West Yorkshire, England), Saturday, July 16, 1870; pg. 8; Issue 1057. 19th Century British Library Newspapers: Part II.
DEATH
On the 11th inst., aged 31, Sarah, wife of George Henry Calvert, Spa Wood Top. Friends will kindly accept this intimation.

It's possible he remarried however the only death I can see in 1878 is this one unless the age is wrong or there is some other error:

Deaths Jun 1878
CALVERT George 68 Huddersfield 9a 234

and my George was born in 1839.

Regards,

Dave

Hello,

To rule out one George CALVERT would be a good move. So I need one born about 1810.

:2fun: There is only 28 of them born in WRY from 1808 to 1812. :2fun:

I still can't find a death that fits one born in 1839.

Regards,

Dave

Hello,

Births Sep 1870
Calvert Thomas Huddersfield 9a 323

Deaths Sep 1870
Calvert Thomas 0 Huddersfield 9a 236
Calvert Sarah 31 Huddersfield 9a 221

The Huddersfield Chronicle and West Yorkshire Advertiser (West Yorkshire, England), Saturday, July 16, 1870; pg. 8; Issue 1057. 19th Century British Library Newspapers: Part II.
DEATH
On the 11th inst., aged 31, Sarah, wife of George Henry Calvert, Spa Wood Top. Friends will kindly accept this intimation.

=======
Births Mar 1869
Calvert John Barraclough Huddersfield 9a 308

Deaths Jun 1869
Calvert John Barroclough 0 Huddersfield 9a 271

The Huddersfield Chronicle and West Yorkshire Advertiser (West Yorkshire, England), Saturday, May 22, 1869; pg. 8; Issue 997. 19th Century British Library Newspapers: Part II.
DEATH
On the 12th inst., aged 10 weeks, John Barroclough, son of George Henry Calvert, of Primrose Hill, Almondbury.

The marriage had his name as CALVEART but even searching using that turns up nothing in 1881 anywhere in England unless he changed occupation. There are lots of George as farmers and miners, cordewaner, etc but nothing similar to cloth merchant.

There is no sign of a death that fits anywhere in England any time after 1871.

Regards,

Dave
