Hi

Looking for George in 1841, mother and confirmation of birth/bap. also needed.

b. c1822 Norfolk, possibly East Ruston [1851 census] or Great Yarmouth [1871 census].

Father = George, taken from marriage details.

George married Mary Ann/Maryann Ellis in 1850. His occupation was mariner.

first went to sea as a boy in 1835
has served 3 yrs Royal navy
when unemployed resides at Yarmouth
description :- 5ft 4in, light brown hair, light complexion, blue eye, no marks
cannot write

Now that is interesting, a couple of trees have him marrying Mary Neave in the mid 1840's. His 1850 marriage to Mary Ann Ellis clearly has him as single, also occ. is mariner :rolleyes:

If he was still in the navy Geoff, I suppose he was at sea in the 1841 census. It's odd that there was a Marianne Ellis on the other page to this George Gotts, but she was a few years older than him, she was 30. and a couple of lines down was a James Ellis, suppose he could have been her husband :confused:

Yeah, that's the conclusion I came to, more so after Elaine's find.

There are so many Gotts' in that area of Norfolk, George's father alone was one of about 10 siblings :rolleyes:
