George in 1871 is in Naples, middle initial D but I sure he is the same one as his pob is West Wittering year abt 1838. The downside he is classed as single.
George may or may not be the father:

Birth: 1871; Limekilns, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland; he is listed as Carl August Anderson or French; witness Christina Anderson, mother; certificate #212

Looking for a death for George.

Thanks,

Dave

Good grief this is a messy one

There's also a George Henry French b. same time in Worthing, Sussex...
This is George Henry. He is a gunner. He either died around 1871 or he did a runner.

The baptism in post #1 is the one I'm after. Mother Jane LUTER.

Thomas French & Jane Luter
13 Feb 1831 Northwood, Hampshire

Thomas was in the Coast guard.

It has to be this one of 8 with that name: - HERE

A large vessel:

Complement: 585
Armament:
24 × Smoothbore muzzle-loading 68-pounder guns
11 × Rifled breechloading 110-pounder guns
Armour: Belt: 3–4.5 in (76–114 mm)
Battery: 3–4.5 in (76–114 mm)
HMS Royal Oak was a Prince Consort-class armoured frigate[Note 1] built for the Royal Navy in the 1860s. The lead ship of her class, she is sometimes described as a half-sister to the other three ships because of her different engine and boiler arrangements. Like her sisters, she was converted into an ironclad from a wooden ship of the line that was still under construction.
The ship spent most of her career with the Mediterranean Fleet, only briefly serving with the Channel Fleet. Royal Oak returned home in 1871 for a refit, but was instead placed in reserve to save money. Fourteen years later, still in reserve, she was sold for scrap in 1885.

That's Christina and she farmed children out:

1881
Civil parish: Dunfermline
Address: Limekilns
James Anderson Head 52 Slater Abercorn
Janet French niece 17 Gen dom serv Abercorn
Georgina French niece 15 Charleston, Fife
Carl Loenhardt nephew 9 Limekilns
Augusta Loenhardt niece 4 Kinghorn

Christina didn't remarry but had two children after 1871 census so perhaps George didn't die in 1871 or any time around then.

Birth: 1876; North Overgate, Kinghorn, Fife, Scotland; Charlotta Augusta Leonhardt Anderson; illegitimate; mother Christina French M.S. Anderson living at Limekilns, Dunfermline; witness Christina Anderson, mother; certificate #58

So, looking like George did a runner, then...
