Neither can I. There is a death in Bethnal Green for a James Muddiman of about the right age but I was able to find him in the Censuses and he wasn't born in Northamtonshire, so not your chap. Other than that, absolutely nothing. Is there an arrival in Australia?

Daughter Matilda married George Street and they arrived in Australia in 1877.

No death in NSW of Qld. index for James.

I have the image of the shipping record but it's difficult to see if it says James is dead or not
