I am trying to find info about a George Pickard born c1889 for a friend
I know his father was George, he married a Lydia Harrison in Hunslet Leeds in 1916 and was killed in July 1917 in France

army no 306730 and 7089
His records are on https://www.forces-war-records.co.u...pickard-british-army-west-yorkshire-regiment/ and I wondered if anyone with access could see if there is anything there which will help identify him or his parents

thanks
dave

Hi Ozn

thanks for that. Unfortunately it does not help me as I did see the record elsewhere but though this record may have had some more details to help identify him or his parents. What is most sad, he was only married a year before his death and possibly most of that was spent away from home.

I don't want to stop you finding anything, but I have another thread -http://www.forum.familyhistory.uk.com/showthread.php?t=26805 - for George which is active in the help with names forum. I'm a bit suspicious about him being native of London.

thanks Geoff, and thanks to your friend.

I think George may be the one in a Manchester industrial school in 1901, born Bethnal Green, then he enlisted in the army (why I can't find him in 1911). I think I will have to visit Leeds to see if I can find the electoral rolls.

Wow, a sparrow hawk has just swooped down onto my bird feeder, but missed it's target. One lucky blue tit.

sorry I got distracted.....
