George had died between 1861-1871, possibly died 1864, Mary E was a widow by 1871, that is the only George Thomas recorded in that period.

I've got George's mar. cert. now [thought it may give an odd snippet].

It confirms his father as James, occ. Tanner and George was of full age so b. before/by 1829.

Also, I wonder if anyone can decipher this street name?

Thanks
Geoff

Hi Amanda

Apologies for the lack of clarity..

They are 4x seamen, G/George Thomas with birth date and or date of death, the names; India, Medway, Emperor and Alabama were ships they sailed on or were lost at sea between 1861-1871. BT 153 is the FMP archive reference.

So any details on those records would helpful.

Thanks
Geoff

Hi Geoff,

I've looked at Ancestry and FindmyPast I can't even see the ships listed let alone who was on them, perhaps they are still being transcribed soz :(

The 1864 death [Hull] has now been discounted.

So, it looks as though he may have died at sea

Still looking for anything else on George, apart from his marriage.

Many thanks

I can't see any record of registered certification for seaman, mate or skipper in the Hull area, of course it may have been issued outside of Hull. A local researcher has him as a Skipper in 1851, the census says his spouse was a fisherman's wife
