Hi Everyone.

I'm continuing to try and put my Grandfather's life together. I like to try and find out a bit about his post WW1 life.

I know from my Father's marriage certificate, 22nd Dec 1951, that Grandad was a former Great Wester Railway Docker, working a Brentford Docks, which were owned until 1947 by the GWR, and later, post 1947, by British Railways [Western Region]

Death 07 Aug 1952 in Wandsworth, London
Address 103 Armoury House, Armoury Way, Wandsworth.

Hi Gibbo.

I was just trying to fill in my grandfather's life. I just wanted to know when he worked in Brentford Docks [Simply from to will do].

Maybe during WWII, as a former WWI soldier, he did something like ARP, or Home Guard?

Please remember I know nothing about him, other than the few snippets which I have, and you guys have kindly found out for me.

I never knew who my grandfather was and after some digging around i found who i think it was but he died 30 years ago so i will never know 100% for sure now.

Firstly sometimes we cant find anything on what we were looking for, part and parcel of family history im afraid. So go with what you can find and run with it:biggrin:

Secondly if a site is a site that is wanting payment or membership still contact them regardless. If someone nice gets the email sometimes they will send a little snippet of info that helps or gives leads. BUT be prepared they might not:2fun::2fun:

Thirdly email anyone with a email address such as local libraries and archives in the area your looking at for electoral register information etc. If they cant help a lot of the time they will give you contact details for someone who might be able to. I would still contact the sites that pramclub left for you and just see what happens.

Death notices are quiet good for information at times also.
