My name is George from Cumbernauld in Scotland I am retired from work except at home,my wife says i dont know how to retire. I have five of a family. The eldest now living in Brisbane started me off in this family detective work about 4 years ago. I also have a daughter in Brisbane,a son in germany and 2 sons in Britain one in Scotland and one in England
I have been researching the Henderson family and have got back to about 1790 in Dunfermline in Fife. The big problem is that there are a lot of Henderson's with no connection to each other, but i keep on trying. What else can i do,once you catch the bug you are stuck with it.The other names connected to my Family are Brand,Anderson, and Flucker

Hi Francis I am sorry but your family is not connected to mine The Fife area seems to be full of Hendersons that are not connected. The only place in Fife my ancesters came from is Dunfermline. After this they seemed to migrate to Leith in Edinburgh Then over to Glasgow and Falkirk. It would be worth looking at the site called
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk It's a great site for Scots research good luck George

Hi George
Welcome aboard. I too am a newbie but really enjoying the site. I have ancestors from Fife, the Wisharts, mainly around the Kettle area. I don't live in Scotland but did get up there in September. I did notice that a lot of the gravestones have a skull engraved on them - any idea what it signifies? Anyway, good luck with your research and remember to enjoy it!
Liz
