Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. Interesting. I didn't have daughter Ann in my tree. Now I wonder if she married and went to Australia with her spouse or if she died before all ther other siblings left England or if she stayed behind with her parents.

The other interesting thing is the birth year for William. That might explain why a baptism can't be found around 1827.

So far I can't find the marriage of Thomas & Ann unknown.

There are also two GILBY brothers - sons of William & Ann - Thomas aged 22 and William aged 24 arrived in Australia on the 'Anglo Saxon' in Oct 1854.

Please see if you can find this latter family in 1841.

Thanks.

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Swaffham Prior or Swaffham Bulbeck - and the marriage 14 Oct 1828 S. Prior - but I have not found the sources to confirm the dates yet.

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. Please see if you can find the first family in 1851. Oh, son David may be the only one still at home. I don't know about Ann yet, but the other three married before 1851 census so I'll get to them soon.

Thanks.

Hello crankypants,

Thanks. I'd say Thomas was born in Ashley, Suffolk.

:D :D Yes, some arrived in Aug 1854 on 'Genghis Khan' to Moreton Bay, others on 'Anglo Saxon' in Oct 1854 and more on 'Chowringhee' in 1855.

It seems Thomas married Ann GRAINGER on 6 Dec 1806 in Weston Colville and that they had a lot more children than I had in my tree: Mary 1808, Thomas 1811, John 1813, William 1819, Ann 1819, Susan 1822 - the last three have baptism records George 1825, James 1828 & David 1832.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Marriages and children born in England:

Marriages Jun 1850
GILBY William Linton 14 143
WATERS Maria Linton 14 143

Children Wiliam & Frederick b. abt 1851 - some confusion as to the age of William - seems he may have been born before they married

Please see if you can find them in 1851.

Thanks.

Hello crankypants,

Assisted immigrants arriving at Moreton Bay-Brisbane, 1848-59
GILBY William 27 and family 'Genghis Khan' Aug 1854 2137, 2466
GILBY Maria 28 and family
GILBY William 8 and family
GILBY Frederick 3 and family

This would fit with the age on shipping record and the order of the children. It's 8 years not 8 months so this does not fit:

Births Mar 1852
GILBY William Linton 3b 492

Births Jun 1846
Gilbey William Linton 14 90
Gilbey William Linton 14 91

Death # 1900/C3352 Gilby William Thomas Gilby Ann -

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much.

I have another SHIPP family from Waterbeach but it seems Martha is not related as far as I can see.

I can't find a birth or baptism for Martha and all I have is the family probably in Weston Colville area in 1841:

SHIPP John 40, Elizabeth 40, Daniel 15, Edward 12, Martha 9, John 7, Timothy 4, Mary 1

Please see if you can find them in 1841 and then 1851.

Thanks,

Dave
