Hi,

I am trying to trace my birth grandmother as my mother was adopted as a baby.
I have had lots of help from some really kind people on different genealogy forums who have helped me gather as much information as possible but i have now hit a brick wall as i have no way of knowing if she remarried which makes things really complicated in trying to find her.
So my mother and i have decided to bite the bullet and share the cost of paying someone to find my grandmother as time is of the essence!
Can anyone reccomend a good researcher/investigator?
We are looking for someone who is going to get definite results not just rehash the research that we have already done.
Any advice grealty appreciated.
Thank you

Hi,

Don't know if this will help you or not but it might be worth a look. Here in Australia the National Archives has a list of Research Agents who will research for you in the state they are in. The cost is worked out between the Researcher & researchee & has nothing to do with the archives.

Thought it might be worth a look to see if the archives there have a similar service to offer.

I may be being a bit thick here, but I'm not sure what you mean by trace. Do you mean you wish to find out who your birth grandmother was or do you already have that information and now wish to physically locate her. It sounds obvious but they are very different problems and require very different skills. If its the latter I may be able to help, in a previous life I was a prof. investigator and still have various contacts around the U.K. and Europe and would be happy to try to assist,(at no cost) if it is a genealogical search then I am sure that thre are others on this site far better equiped than I am,who will be able to help. I have found this to be a very helpful and informative site and wish you luck in your search.
