My Grandfather - Colour Sergeant John Sirett Royal Marine Artillery, service number 5109, (1894-1920) was awarded two Meritorious Service Medals. First in 1919 a Royal Navy MSM for 'services to recruiting at Newcastle' during WW1, (London Gazette 28 March 1919) and the second - Royal Marine MSM on 20 September 1945 - twenty five years after he left the service! Would be most grateful for any thoughts on how he might have qualified for both of these medals and whether the ribbons would be of the same or different colours.
