Greatgrandads army records

I am looking to find my greatgrandads Army records.
James William Coombs(COMBS/COMBES) born 1868 Northwich Cheshire
moved to Salford before 1901 as he and his family appear there
I do have a old certificate were his wife was asking for copy of my gran mother birth cert to help him get in Army
would like to see his records

Found record for a James Williams Coombs born abt 1868. This one is way out from the area you mentioned. Wife is Emily nee Ward.
