Harland Coates

Hi I am new here, but came across the board whilst googling Harland Coates, being as it is an unusual name.

Anyway I came across this post

Another side of the family has 6 generations of men called Harland Coates, but that's just taking the mick.

I have a Harland Coates in my tree born 1836 Yarm in Yorkshire, he married (I think) Martha Hasting.

They had many children, one of whom was called Mary Ann Coates - I have her birth cert and hence the parents names.

I am now trying to find a marriage between Harland and Martha, I suspect between 1851 and 1861. As to where the marriage took place?? It seems the family moved a LOT between Sunderland/Northumberland and NR of Yorkshire

I would appreciate any help and especially hearing from Minden as I assume I can't pm people yet

Thanks for replying. Off the top of my head I think that is Harland snr's son marriage - he was born in the 60's

Hi again - been away a while, I was hoping to try and get in contact with Minden especially as (s)he has mentioned Harland Coates and has the name COATES in their profile.

I assume as new user I am unable to contact Minden directly - could someone help me out pls Harland Coates IS an unuaual name and I would love to swap notes with Minden
