Mr. H. M. Rutledge
Mr. Harold M. Rutledge, who for a number of years practised as a Solicitor in Oakey, died recently. He was a son of the late Sir Arthur Rutledge, K.C., a prominent member of the Governments of his day, and Attorney-General in the Philp Ministry. Mr. Rutledge was born in Brisbane and began his legal career with Mr. (later Sir) Charles Power, solicitor, of Bundaberg. In 1900 he became a solicitor, and, with Mr. R. M. King, went into practice. When the firm opened in Oakey, Mr. Rutledge assumed control of the branch and continued in charge of it until the partnership was dissolved. He then continued in practice in the same town, until ill-health caused him to retire. He is survived by his widow, three sons, and a daughter. Two brothers and two sisters also survive him. They are Mrs. C. Brunsdon Fletcher, wife of the editor of the 'Sydney Morning Herald,' and Miss Ivy Rutledge, and Messrs. Ernest and Cliff Rutledge.
