Thanks Barbara.

The family is Wesleyan and I expected to find a record for Charles, the eldest son at Maresfield. His brother Owen is my line.

I don't know where 1 April 1824 came from. It may not have been the NC baptism but a date recorded in a marriage or a Bible or a death ...

Re the marriages

William Oliver to Naomi Freeman abt 1835 probably Sussex but could be Kent - William, Farmer & Brickmaker, son of John

Richard Freeman to Maria Bates abt 1810.

Birth/baptism for Naomi Freeman abt 1812.

Tried just putting in Charles and no surname but his baptism must not have survived. Putting in just Furner brought up George James and Sarah Jane. Do you have theirs?

No marriage for Naomi that I can find

This could be the first born.

Caroline Freeman
Gender Female
Christening Date 19 Aug 1810
Christening Place PLAYDEN, SUSSEX
Richard Freeman & Maria

Unusual batch number K042512

K------ Birth or christening extraction Use the instructions for finding C------ batch number sources.

Seems to be the only baptism on FS for children of Richard & Maria.

Not on FreeREG.

Sussex will remain a problem area for my tree.

Thanks Geoff.

Thanks Val.

I know nothing about a Whiteman & Freeman marriage. No Robert Whiteman in my tree yet.

The Charles Furner of Maresfield who married Harriet Oliver of Beckley (dau of William Oliver & Naomi Freeman) also married Harriet Whiteman of Udimore (dau of Thomas Whiteman of Udimore & Mary Butchers of Brede).

I also have Gutsell in my tree.

Philadelphia also appears as a given name for some Furners.

Seems the two marriages and the baptisms I'm after will have to wait until someone gets the CDs or records are put on-line.

Very little available for Brede, Beckley, Udimore. Only a few parishes on FreeREG.

James 11mo in 1839 on shipping record and Harriet age 3.

Death 1683/1903 OLIVER JAMES - WILLIAM - NAOMI - GOULBURN * 19 Feb 1903

These don't fit

Births Jun 1838
Oliver James Osborn Midhurst 7 381
Births Sep 1838

Can't find a baptism for James or Harriet on FS or FreeREG.

Can't be this one (right RD) as the family arrived Apr 1839.

Births Dec 1839
